DONATE, LEND, SPONSOR
IF ONCE A YEAR EACH BOOK GROUP DECIDES TO DONATE TO ONE CAUSE IN HELPING WOMEN IN NEED, WE WILL CHANGE THE WORLD.
WHAT OTHER BOOKS GROUPS HAVE DONE
GIVE AS A BOOK GROUP TO ONE CAUSE:
A book group in Colorado each Christmas, instead of exchanging gifts, gives to an organization of their choice.
A book group of 11 women at their monthly meeting each give $10 to the person hosting the meeting and she contributes the amount collected to a charity of her choice. Often the money goes to a charity that is related in some way to the book they read. i.e. they read Escape and donated to Domestic Abuse Intervention Services
A book group in Denver pays dues each month for trips, charity giving, etc. When they choose a charity and they give out of their dues account. “One year we gave to Red Cross after the Haiti earthquake; one year to the local safe house. Our annual contribution is based less on a specific book than it is on women, and where we think there is a current need.
GIVE AS A BOOK GROUP BUT EACH PERSON CAN CHOOSE THEIR OWN CAUSE:
A book group in California read the book “Half the Sky” and each person decided on a specific organization they wanted to fund. Many contributed to microentrepreneur projects, giving to a group of women, to get the greatest impact.
